For Ages 3-6
We believe that music education should begin early in life. Studies show that music connects the two hemispheres of the brain, and is crucial to the development of a child. At UpBeat, Early Childhood Music Education is our passion. We hope that your child will join us for a class.
Please note that children must be bathroom independent to attend class.
Saturday Songs is our once-monthly Saturday offering that allows students, both current and those not currently part of UpBeat, the opportunity to come on an Adventure with Miss Cora. This activity is a one time enrollment of $15 for the first child and $5 for each additional sibling. The theme is announced monthly with registration available online or by phone. Head over to our enrollment page to learn more.
Hello Music is an introduction to our Music in Me program. Music in Me is a dynamic readiness program for young children with emphasis on ear training, solfege singing, music theory, movement, keyboard activities, pitch and rhythm awareness. Creativity is stressed. Parent involvement in class and at home. This class is for children 3-6. Caregivers are required to attend.
Music Time is an introductary class to our Harmony Road Track! Designed for children 5-7 years years old, we will explore the basics of do-re-mi, play classroom instruments and pianos, sing and wiggle. Not only will this class give families a taste of how a Harmony Road style class is run, but this class will allow UpBeat to see how your child thrives in this style of classroom and we will be able to better place the student for January classes to set them up for success. This class will meet for four weeks, Wednesdays, October 30 - November 19 from 6:30-7:15. All materials are included. This is a parent involvement class and caregivers are required to attend.
Come explore movement with Miss Maribel! Tippy Toes is UpBeat's no pressure, no hidden cost, but ALL the fun, introduction to dance and movement. Students will be exposed to ballet, tumbling, movement exercises and body awareness exercises. This is a great opportunity for our Tiny Dancers who are not quite ready to sit through a traditional dance class at a studio. Extra Perk? Studies show that young children involved in rhythmic movement activities have a higher aptitude for learning music.
Tunes & Tales
Our favorite Preschool camps have become a weekly class! Join us as we explore themes in literature and music, while engaging children in Preschool Readiness activities. Each class will involve singing, dancing, reading and a craft to take home. This class is designed for children ages 3.5-6.
Let's have a musical! In Preschool Musical, students will learn all about what goes into a musical, from making their own set, designing their costumes, assigning parts and performing their show! Students will put on a short musical at the end of class written by Miss Cora. Previous musicals have included the Billy Goats Gruff, and the Three Little Pigs. Come join us! Caregivers are required to attend
Preschool Music Duo
Why sign up for one class when you can take two! Preschool Music Duo gives students the opportunity to do short sessions of popular UpBeat classes instead of one long session. This class is designed for children 3-5
In one session, students will participate in an interactive music and movement class inspired by Carnival of the Animals by Camille St Saens. Movement will include children's yoga poses and dramatic play. In the second half of the class, we will explore the concept of themes in our popular Tunes & Tales class. Each class will have a different theme which children will learn about through music, literature and a preschool preparation style craft or activity.
In our other duo, students will participate in an introduction to percussion & rhythm with Bucket Drumming and classroom instruments. In the second half of the session, students will put on a short musical of a well known story. They will make their own set, pick their costumes and perform for their parents.
Caregivers are required to attend.

Harmony Road 1
Ready to begin music education with your child? Have you been considering piano lessons? Come try our exclusive Harmony Road program! How exclusive? We are currently the only licensed Harmony Road facility in the state of Michigan! What we affectionately call "HR" is a dynamic music readiness program for young children and their caregiver. Not only is the program a wonderful opportunity for working parents to spend an evening with their child, having you in the room with them is proven to improve their understanding. Whether a student wants to be a pianist or not, we encourage all of our students to start their musical journey here.
What can you expect from a Harmony Road class? A LOT! During the course of a 45-minute class, students will sing, play classroom instruments, work on music theory at the white board, practice rhythm exercies, work on aural skills (also known as ear training), participate in keyboard exploration and activities, learn solfege (after all, do do do is a note we know!), and get all of our wiggles out with movement activities. These classes are desiged with children in mind, so we bounce from station to station every 3-5 minutes with the littles and work our way up from there. Class sizes are small, capping at seven students, and each class will set their own pace. Harmony Road is a multi-year arc culminating in a graduation ceremony about when students reach Middle School.
Students who graduate from Harmony Road have amazing aptitude for other instuments because they truely understand how music works. The Harmony Road graduation also lines up wonderfully with when students are ready to begin school band. Don't worry, once your child is ready to move on to a different instrument, they can still stay at UpBeat by studying privately with one of our instrument specialists.
As with all UpBeat group classes, there are no hidden fees - all lesson materials are included in your tuition.
