About me:

Abigail Mullis holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Central Michigan University (CMU), where
she studied under the guidance of Dr. Alexandra Mascolo-David. Ms. Mullis was the first prize winner of
CMU’s John Irwin Memorial Piano Competition in 2017 and received a university-wide Provost Award
for Undergraduate Research and Creative Accomplishments in 2018. Abigail’s research focus is on finding ways to ways to incorporate the arts back into the core of educational study and of the community.

During her time at CMU, Abigail gained experience as an educator and artist through teaching at CMU’s Community Music School, performing as a soloist and collaborative pianist at the
university, traveling abroad to perform in Italy, and researching music education methods. Abigail has served internships with Michigan music educators, the Ann Arbor Symphony, and Early Childhood
Connections in Battle Creek, Michigan, to develop music outreach initiatives in the Michigan area. Ms.
Mullis’s creative endeavors and research have been recognized at music conferences across the
country: Group Piano Class and Community Choir Program for Senior Citizens (2020), Connecting
Generations: Creative Arts Playgroup (2019), Reviving a Tradition of the Past: An Interdisciplinary Piano
Recital(2019), STEAM Classical Music Outreach Recitals, A Focus on the Arts in STEAM Education(2018),
and Early Childhood Music: A Precursor to Further Music Study (2016). In addition to keeping an active teaching and performing career, Ms. Abby enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling,
taking walks in nature, and practicing yoga. Abigail is excited to pursue her teaching career at UpBeat
Music Academy.
